Do you mean the plully on the compressor or the idler pully. The a/c pully on the compressor is a bitch, some things are worth paying for. If you can get the clutch and pully off you'll be o.k. Good luck!

i bought my truck last year and about a week after i got it, the bearing in the a/c pulley started making a chattering noise whenever i engaged the compressor. made me think the engine had a knock in it. replaced the pulley with an a*** z*** one and 13 months after i had it replaced, its doing it again... 12 month warranty, gotta replace it AGAIN, but this time i might just do the whole compressor, 268k miles... so why not?

Mine is starting to scream, and I know that's the problem because I've replaced the idler pully and tensioner. Only other compnent there is the a/c or the cam, which I doubt is making the noise.

If it's always making noise the pulleys are a good place to start. Normally if it's the a/c compressor the noise will change when the a/c is cycling. However, the a/c pulley on the compressor is always spinning (obviously) so it may be that. I would start with the idler pulley and tensioner. They're cheap enough to try.
