Default A/C Mode Control Problem

To start off I am a 25yr exp automotive tech, mostly imports though, never worked on may Fords. I don't Want y'all to think I'm lazy, I thought i'd run this buy you guys before I have to try and dig up a wiring diagram. Last night I turned the a/c to defrost on the way home and everything was cool. Today I switched it over to max a/c and the mode didn't change, it stayed on defrost. Then I changed it from max to normal a/c which should have change the recirculate- outside air door. It didn't . It's hard to think both motor went bad at once. I know that both worked the day before. I guess what I want to know is, is there a fuse or a problem in the a/c control head?

If you have the electronic control this could be your fix:

Provided it still blows air and just doesn't move from defrost to vent.

If you have the other style there is a good chance you have a loose or damage vacuum line. Either way this would be a good place to start.

I didn't know vacuum was involved. Maybe that explains why the CEL came on on about the same time with a P0401 code, EGR flow. I'll get right on that. Thanks

That was it, fixed both problems. Passenger side of engine, just over the injector rail, about midways back. Thanks!
