Default A/C Issues

Hello,
I purchased a 1997 Ford F-150 5.4L that was sitting for a while, first thing I noticed is the A/C was blowing hot air. I tried to first recharge it with freon cause the PSI was low but even after doing that A/C still was blowing hot air. I looked at the compressor to see if it was rotating and it was. I then used UV dye to check for a leak and found none, also PSI still read fine. Any suggestions on what it could be? I really am trying to avoid taking it to an auto shop and being charged up the *** lol. Thanks in advance!

Well then you should buy a set of gauges, and a vacuum pump, and a freon sniffer, and learn how to use them. Is the compressor discharge hot? How's the line leaving the accumulator going towards the evaporator core?

Putting freon in a system that it leaked out of doesn't fix it. It might let you find the leak.... Yeah you think a can of freon is cheap..... But when you put in a can of week..... And you got to keep doing it or your AC doesn't work... Well it gets to be a royal pain in the butt..... Sooner or later you got to fix it right.

If you can't find the leak anywhere else it's in a spot you can't find.... The evaporator core.

Without a cabin filter on your evaporator core... Dirt and crap gets stuck on it in the fins... And condensation there wets it and it corrodes through from the outside until you get a pinhole

So did you evacuate the system before adding more refrigerant?
