Unhappy Busted Odometer??

I am fairly certain that my odometer is about to break or is broken because it will start to record miles but then it will stop and then it will only start up again when I either I go into reverse or it will start up it self again but either way it stops soon after any Ideas on what it is and or how to fix it.

BTW it is a 1997 f150 flareside(everything in sig) with a mechanical odometer not a digital one.

Sounds like there is a bad gear in the odometer. BMWs are bad about that. Get one from your local salvage yard and throw it in. Hopefully you can find one thats close to your mileage.

/I am not positive if the Speedo is seperate or not. If it is thats cool. If not yes a whole new cluster is needed.

Default Odometor

Beowolf,

I know it's been a year since you posted but I thought I would see if you fixed it. I had a similar problem with the Odometer in my '99. It turned out to be a crack in the solder on the board behind the spedo. Simple fix. Let me know if you are still having the problem and I will find you the instructions for repairing it.
