Default Bumper switch

Will a 97 bumper bolt directly on to a 99? I bought a 97 for parts and I like the 97 bumper better than my 99. Just wondering if it will bolt right. Thanks

It will bolt right up but you have to change the grille shell also. 97-98 is straight across the top of the bumper, where the 99 and up has the dip in the bumper for the changed shell in 99. You can just swap it at the same time as the bumper

Yup, As AK said, bumper itself has the same mount points regardless of year, you have to make sure you have the right grill to go with it.
A 97-98 bumper will not work with the 99+ grill (the grill will hit on the bumper when the hood is closed).
A 99+ bumper will work on a 97-98, but looks odd:

This is actually a Rouch style bumper for 99+, but you can see the gap between the bumper and grill.

That would work great for a place to hide a 32 inch light bar. lol
