Default Breaks locking up when cold

Alright so on my 97 supercab 4x4 4.6l I have been noticing when it's cold that the slightest touch of the break pedals will lock up my breaks, which wasnt good being in Minnesota in the winter. But after hit the break and slow to a stop the first couple of times it would stop and my breaks would work normal until the truck cooled down all the way. I was wondering if anybody has had this issue? The search won't work on my phone.

Does the brake pedal break when you touch it?

But really...I would first try fresh fluid in the system. The fluid is probably old and has water in it.

Hello. Have 98 F150 4.6. Just turned 314K miles. Mine had the same problem. Finally traced it down to defective rear drums. Replaced drums and break grabbing cured! Mine was especially bad in cool damp weather. The first stop in the morning would lock the rear wheels. Just an idea - your mileage may vary. Good luck.

Ya I only have 125xxx miles but it's doig exactly what yours is. I'll tear into the drums, I'm not too worried now that it's summer I just gotta be careful the first stop, but wintertime it about caused aces accidents.

Hope the drums solve the grabbing. Cheap enough and RockAuto or LMC have them. Surely did on mine. My mechanic said the drums were worn too thin allowing the shoes to expand too far which caused the lock up. He said this was a common 150 problem in the 97/98. Also check run out on drums. As I said, you may have a different thing going on. Just my experience. Let us know what you find and good luck!
