Default Break Light on dash Doesnt come one

1997 F150 Lariat Supercab 186,000

Break light on dash is not burnt out, when I start the truck it comes on briefly but when I set the break it doesnt come on? The fuse is not burned out or anything. I am thinking this is something simple I am just not seeing it.

Anyone know what this could be?
Thanks

Mine does the same thing. I cant reach up in there to check the contact or even see what I am looking for. Does the same thing though, comes on when starting but doesnt come on when setting parking brake.

At the top of the Parking Brake Pedal there is a electrical switch, your Parking Brake Pedal makes contact when depressed. Might just need the contacts cleaned or switch replaced. Sounds like something to check out since your dash light illuminates when you first turn your key!

I have the 4.6. Yeah I think that must be in because all day yesturday the light was working! and I didnt clean it yet or anything, so it must just be dirty, maybe some grease buildup etc. Thanks alot. I'll let you know if it works or not. After Green Bay puts the Bears to shame
