Went ahead and started doing some work today.

Did Gott's mod, removed the intake silencer, and have begun to paint the grille.

I am debating on whether to paint the chrome grille surround black, how to paint over chrome paint? Sandpaper the hell out of it?

I don't know if the silencer and gotts mods improve exhaust note, but my truck sounds meatier when I floor it...I am pleased!

I am however starting to notice high pitch noises from the engine, sounds like bearings screeching. I thought it was the left front brake that was making the screeching noise but I can hear it idling in park.

If you do paint the surround, let me know. Mine is chrome, and pitted pretty bad. I do want to paint it silver to match the truck. I found a can of wheel paint thats pretty close. I painted the back of my mirrors with it...

Went ahead and put the grille in, and re-adjusted intake mod. Broke just about every little plastic screw in the process *sigh* However this also enlightened me to the unnoticed crack in the front cover. Ill take a pic later when I try to sort out all these broken screws and fasteners I need to replace.

I decided to not go all out when painting the grille, with the option of plastic dip.
I have much to research and will either get the grille plastidipped or get it painted professionally. So I have simply used an entire can on a barely prepped grille...hey I at least sanded a bit and washed it good beforehand, but there was wax on the grille and it bubbled parts of the paint very quickly. From 5-10 feet it looks alright though.

I am pleased with the minimal effort for now. Makes good of letting me see it black for a while. This will enable me to determine if I want the chrome gone from my truck altogether. I do not like chrome for some reason.
