Default Brakes!!!

Okay Sunday my brakes failed.. somehow one of the brake pads fell out of my passenger side front caliper (i dont know how my only guess is the pad broke then fell out) as a result the caliper pushed the pistons all the way out of the caliper and my brake guide of course leaked out in a matter of seconds leaving me with no brakes.. so I coasted home since I was only about 3 miles away.. bought new caliper and pads put it all on bled them and it seemed to be fixed I drove over 350 miles yesterday to Alamo GA and back without an issue.. then today I went to hit the brakes and they were rock hard it took everything I had to stop the truck.. this has happened twice so far.. I've never had this happen before any ideas on what I'm dealing with here?

Had a similar problem with my 98 on the passenger side. After investigating....my mechanic found a piece of metal somehow got between the piston inside the caliper and basically locked the top portion of the brake pad onto the disc. Replaced the pads but the caliper never worked properly afterwards...vibrations in the pedal, brake not releasing when foot off the pedal etc...
I ended up upgrading to better brakes. Vented and cross drilled with 4 piston calipers...no problems since! And they look sharp too

Sorry to bring up crown victoria's on an F150 forum but It sounds strangely familiar to me - Every crown vic PI I have had gave me brake problems - the pedal seemed to be stuck at the top and the ABS motor was doing something, It would happen randomly - Very scary when you really need to stop ! The problem was faulty ABS units - EXPENSIVE, so I just cut the power to the ABS pump - CHEAP and possibly dangerous, but it worked for me (I'm a cheap dangerous hillbilly that despises ABS) - My current F150 has had the ABS light on for 4+ years and has been inop. Probably wanting to burst in to flames.(RECALL problem)

On an empty stretch of road try a panic stop, just to see what happens. Better that the brakes fail when you expect them to, not piling into a wreck on the expwy.
