Default Brake System on Lariat

Hey all, I have a question. Why did they put 17" wheels on the Lariat. It wasn't because of bigger brakes or anything was it? I want to buy these wheels that my buddy had on his 03 F150 but they are 16's and I wanted to make sure that they would fit on my Lariat. Thanks in advance.

I've got lots of clearance with mine that I don't think I'd have a problem putting on a 16" rim, though it's a 2000 supercab. They may have increased the rotor size since then.

I can't imagine ford would put larger breaks on it just because it's got a higher trim level as it has the same tow and weight specs as lower trim levels, though it is possible even though if you need more power, go or stop, you should be going to an F250+ rather than a F150 from their point of view.

Best way to find out is to drive over to your buddy's and put one on to check for size.
