Default Brake Rotors

Looks like I'm in need of brake rotors. I'm going to see if they can be turned but it seems they are bad enough warped in the front that they might not be able to be turned. So worst case scenario, I need new rotors. What brands? Size? Do I have to replace all four? Brands to stay away from?

Dont do drilled anything on these trucks up front. Slotted is the best bet. Definitely replace the pads when you do the rotors and make sure your calipers are working as they should.

Walk into the autoparts store and tell the guy at the counter you need brakes and rotors for xxxx year f150 4x4 or 2wd.

Pick from the list depending how much you want to spend. Get at least the middle of the road. Cheap might wear faster or squeal.

I went with the cheapest option just because I really didn't have the money to replace them when I ruined them (a bolt on the caliper came off on the freeway, so ruined both rotors when braking). They only squeal when it is wet and I first stop, but all of the vehicles I have been in do the same thing.

I'm confused as to how these are already warped. They look fairly new. Slotted in the front, plain in the rear. I'm going to have them looked at and hopefully they can be turned

If your pads werent replaced when the rotors were that could do it. The only other thing would be the caliper pistons not exerting equal force.

You may have a caliper hangin up creating excessive heat thus warping the rotor... several panic stops, excessive braking, collapsing rubber line etc...

The system should be inspected and worn or damaged parts repaired or replaced...

Slotted are more prone to warping. All it takes is for them to be really hot and hit a puddle.

Right ! I agree. What these trucks need (in a bad way), is BEEF...up front.

No slots , no holes..-as much metal as possible. It'll save your **** one day...oh boy can it!
