Yes, I had the same problem.

My rear axle seals were leaking differential lubricant in my drums which in turn contaminated the whole brake assembly.

After replacing seals and fluid, I cleaned both drum assemblies thoroughly with break cleaner and replaced brake shoes.

Now truck brakes like new and never had a problem since.
