BFG, Goodyear, or Cooper?
I posted this in GD but not many responses so I'll try here.
I'm going to be buying tires soon, but I'm not sure on which ones. Was wondering if you guys would help me out and post what you would get.
I'm getting 285/70/17 tires. I'm not too worried about the price, as they are all pretty close to eachother. I'm just wondering what one is the best quality. Please post your experiences if you have any. Most of the driving will be on the road so I know they'll wear a little quicker, but I want a nice looking tire which is why I chose the 3. If there's any other tires I should look into please let me know. Thanks for your time

A. Ive had awesome luck with BFG tires, ive run the AT's and im currently running the KM2's on my ranger and im very pleased with them, great road manners, quiet for a mud tire, smooth riding, good wearing, unstoppable offroad.
B. I cant stand goodyear tires, ive hated every set ive owned (AT/S, RTS, Wrangler) bad wear, terrible wet weather/ snow traction but the duratracs are pretty good looking tires and ive read decent reviews for them.
C. no personal experience but friends that have them love them and they look killer, was going to buy the STT's before i got my KM2's but they were alot more money than the KM2's when i was looking.

I like Cooper and Kelly tires and have had good luck with both.
Of course Michelin are the best tires in my opinion.
What do most big rigs have? Michelin.
But I can't afford Michelins.
I currently have Goodyear Wranglers that replaced the worn out BFG AT's that were on my truck when I bought it. No difference to me.
Top old US brands are all the same to me, I just go for the ones that are on sale but they have to be made in the USA.
NO CHINESE, KOREAN, OR IMPORTED TIRES - NO WAY.
If it does not say made in the USA I leave it for some person who does not care about our country.
I don't want the guilt that I bought something that put another F150 driver out of a job somewhere in the US.

I am a little biased but realistically you live in Michigan... it snows.. alot...the Goodyear Duratrac is more of an All Terain and the only tire you have that is rated for snow. It has the mountain snowflake symbol. The BFG and the Cooper are mud tires. Nothing wrong with that unless you are going to run these year round. Mud tires will slide on surface snow and wet conditions because they lack the tread sipes to grip the road surface in adverse conditions. If you do a lot off off-roading in deep mud / snow conditions the mud tires will clean out better.
The Duratracs have been getting really good reviews and a few others on this forum that have them have said they are really quiet despite the aggressive tread. I am getting a set of the Duratracs in a month or so (big sale coming up) so until then i am going on other peoples opinion and reviews (tire rack and such). If you take care of the tires (inflation/rotation/allignment) they shouldn't really wear that bad.
I went back to view your profile.. since your truck is completely stock I would advise against deviating from the OE size of 265/70r17. Unless you have a programmer and can adjust from a 31.7 od to a 32.8 od. this 1 inch difference in height will affect your shift points/speedometer/odometer. the computer calculates this from the rpms in the transmission. + an added benefit is that the 265/70's are about 35 a tire cheaper than the 285/70's. all the tires you linked are a "D" load range, a little overkill for your truck. the 265's will more than likely be a "C" load range. I've been researching the crap out of this... like i said - i'm buying some in a month or so

What if the economy is why people are buying the import tires? Not everyone can afford BFG's...that doesn't make then not care about the US

I bought Hankook's...sure they are made in China but I bought them from a Ford dealership with American workers behind the desk...then I paid the the American workers to do the work...in the end an American business made a lot of money off me and I helped keep them in business..and the Chinese gave me a rebate NOT Ford or the American worker...so I don't see a problem.

So I just got done buying tires and this is what I found out after a long long search. I have had friends with the km2's and I loved that tire!! it has an awesome look and that was the one I wanted to get but right before I was going to get them, I talked to a tire shop owner who said he knows every tire like the back of his hand and He told me that the km2 has switched there rubber and he said I'd be lucky to get 18,000 miles out of them! he said that he was the number 1 seller in oregon for the km2 untill they switched to the new rubber and now he doesn't recomend them. The first batches of km2's were awesome he said. He said that the stt was the best tire for the money. He said there the excact same as the toyo's but with out the price. So I went with the stt's and love them so far. I wish the km2's were better because there the best looking mud tire in my eye. He also did say that at sema there is going to be a all new bfg km2 that is suppose to fix the crappy wear thing at the end of november but who knows? here is my post about the stt's https://www.f150forum.com/f6/new-tire-pix-63964/
