My Truck: 1999 F150 Ext Cab, Long Bed, 4.6L, 5 speed, 4WD, manual tcase, 3.55 rear end

Alright, so I had a tuner on my ranger and really liked the options it gave me for gas mileage and power (obviously not at the same time) and I was wondering what my options were for the F150, and what most people prefer?

My truck is bone stock (and staying that way) other than my 235/85R16 (32") tires, so I would like something that could squeak a couple extra mpg out of it when I don't need the power. Also if there are any which can adjust the speedometer/odometer that would be great, since its off by about 10% at the moment.

Any programmer will be able to adjust the speedo. MPGs are a crap shoot with a programmer, but if you drive right it is possible. "Best" is a custom tune even for your stock truck. Search around for Gryphon and SCT xcal 3 from Power Hungry performance, Troyer Performace, or VMP tuning.

 

Alright, what should I expect to pay for a decent, but cheap tuner? I got my flashpaq for my Ranger off a friend for $25, but I don't think that'll happen again.

 

Unfortunately power hungry performance no longer offers gryphons with custom tunes for 97-03 f150s. Your best bet for custom tunes is a sct from more power tuning or 5 star

 

Thanks for the update. I've been in 04-08 land too long . FWIW PHP does do custom tuning for SCT also.
