Best Programmer for 01 4.6L Manual Tranny
I have a 2001 EXT Cab 4X4 5spd with the 4.6l 61k. I was wondering what you suggested for a programmer. I am not worried about adjusting shift firmness and such since its a standard. I need to get more towing power, without ruining my fuel economy completely as My commute to work is 30 miles. All suggestions would be great! oh and yes I have done gotts, silencer and have a K&N.

Depends what you know going into getting a programmer. Know that while it will help a little with towing power, and give you better a/f curves pulling. Also know you're still towing and mpg's will be hit or miss on the gains. Just don't go expecting huge power gains, since most of the programmer's butt dyno accolades come from shift point changes. I think with towing the biggest advantage of a programmer is a little power and gauges. I'd find a used Edge/Gryphon.

When i got my programmer i did a bunch of research on which ones give the best hp and/or torque and most of em give around 10-15 hp on our trucks and like around 10lbs of torque but the hypertech programmer gave the most torque, i forgot the exact number but it was like an extra 30-40 lbs of torque and like 12 hp so i got the hypertech and i can DEFINANTLY feel that extra torque

Powering up a gasser isn't economical when you look at it compared a diesel. Maybe one day...until then, you do what you can with what you got or perform a diesel engine swap.

Hypertech's dyno vs other real world dyno's aren't the same. It's just like K&N's dyno when they were doing testing on the new F150 motors. Their numbers were much higher stock than Ford's numbers. I'm not saying they didn't have it on a dyno, just that their's is different and incorrect.
