Ok so this has been beaten to heck and honestly I'm tired of beating around the bush looking for answers....my truck has a loud tick.....I've heard it was cam phasers then I've heard exhaust leak...my right header has two bolts snapped off but the tick doesn't sound like it's coming from there...I have a 02 5.4.....anyone got a idea? If it is the cam phaser what do they run?

Our trucks do not have Cam Phasers. Those are on the 3v 5.4 and 3v 4.6's. It could be several things. It can be a exhaust leak at the manifolds, it can be the lash adjuster for the rockers. I have replaced the lash adjusters and its not a easy job.

I would fix your exhaust leak first. You know there is a problem there so I would start there. You could have something going on internally with the engine but if you just take it apart and find nothing wrong, what next. Process of elimination. I usually fix the obvious and move on. Work on crown Vic once. Manifold leaks so installed gasket per cust. and the stick noisy. Headgasket leaking, sure sounded like a manifold gasket to the customer. Cars don't play by the rules, what I have learned about working on cars. No cam phazers in your engine. Are the plugs all tight. Seen those cause a tick before. GL.
