Default ? Battery Problem ?

On 12/4/2010 I had FORD install a 750CCA Motorcraft battery in my 2002 King Ranch Supercrew. 3 days ago, I detailed my seats. I did NOT play the radio, or leave any doors open for prolonged time.

Had some company come by, went in to visit. About 3 hours later, I came out to take the truck to the garage. I turned the key, the guages went nuts. The battery drug, and finally started.

I took the truck to FORD yesterday, and they did a simple load test. Out of 750 CCA, they said it showed 525 CCA.

They said that to test it correctly, they needed to do a more thorough test with their fancy tester, and that it would take 2-3 hours, due to the fact that they had to load it run it down, load it and run it down.

They were 45 minutes away from closing time, so I elected to bring it back at a later time.

I did take the truck home, and install a charging cable for a Battery Tender, pull the caps off of the battery, and fill (it was a little low), with distilled water.

I hooked the Battery Tender up overnight, and charged it.

The battery is in it's 37th month on FORDs warranty. At 37 months, it goes into the pro-rated mode.

Does the test results sound "normal" for a 37 month old battery?

FORD said that they would have to do the FANCY battery test to determine if the battery would qualify for replacement under the pro-rated schedule.

Opinions??

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to lay out the facts, as I know/understood them.

Basically the only information we can judge by is that it was low on charge (525 cca).

Since you've charged it up, they should be able to run a test now. We have Batteries+ stores in my area that will run it for free and it takes like 30 seconds to do the load test.

I was thinking that I should have it re-tested since I charged it up. I will try to get that done today.

Thanx, for your reply !!

For the load tester to be 100% accurate the battery must be fully charged and showing above 12.2 volts.

My typical battery life is around 30-36 months, so I can see you needing a new battery Anyhows.

Battery was totally charged up. Took it to FORD for the BIG test. Battery failed !!!! New battery installed. I am presently using the battery tender to ensure it is completely charged up. VERY COLD here today. Close to ZERO.

Just making sure !!!
