Default bad reception?

So here's the deal. I just bought a new headunit for my truck today. I had some old junk sony one that the faceplate was loose so it would turn off and on at bumps (sucked!) Me and my buddy were installing this new one which was sony so all we had to do was unplug the old one and plug the new one in. It worked great when we tested it before putting it all back together. After putting it together we rode to the store and the radio wouldn't really come in clear. It was really fuzzy so we figured the ant. cable must be lose or something. After taking it out again, we found out it wasn't loose or anything.
After looking at the old ant. cable that was in the head unit (out of a silverado so it had to have a converter) we noticed the one that was in it was just a little big longer than the one in my truck.
So i finally said it and drove home. On the ride there was a few stations working good but then there was some stations that you could hear but it was fuzzy as hell. What could be the cause of this? I plugged my old headunit back up and it was doing the same thing.

(on the lighter side, you guys should of saw my buddys face when he had the adapter plugged into the radio and touched it and the the reception was a little better! priceless!)

Thanks for the help - Tucker.

Those kinds of priceless looks last forever. You never forget lol.

Iduno.. -Check your antenna's continuity. Go over all the grounds in the cab, under the cab and engine compartment.

Your speakers hooked up right ? Are both radio interference disruptors connected under the hood ?

It's probably a bad ground or antenna.
