Default bad noise...

Well, I thought that the noise was coming from my brakes, but now that I just had my pads and rotors replaced, I don't think they are the culprates....

it is squeaking noise that sounds like it comes from the front right, but it could be the passenger side too, I just can hear it better when I drive, lol

the noise only happens after driving a bit, and usually only happened after I hit my brakes, but keeps making the noise for a while.

The dealership told me that it was a dry axle seal, what the hell is that?

any ideas?

I had a noise that would come a go, every time someone would listen for it, or course it wouldn't make a peep. Well one day about two weeks after it started to make noise I was on a interstate, wow she cut loose, thought I wouldn't get home. We jacked up the front wheel, and the driver side bearing was loose and wobbly. My son took it off in about 20 minutes, and about 13 minutes to put a new one back on. Prices range from $155.00 to $220.00 in my area for the front wheel bearing assembly for the f-150 4X4. Let us know what you find.

Will it make the noise with the suspected tire off of the ground? While driving if you swing the truck from side to side will the noise get louder and softer?

I dint think I could spin it fast enough, and for the second part yes.

If I make a hard left it wont make the noise, but it will if I go straight or right. (my neighbors think I'm a idiot for swerving down the road, lol)

LOL Sounds like a possible bad bearing then. It will stop the noise when there is no load on it. I would replace both front hub bearings. If one is bad they are both the same age the other one cant be far behind. Even if thats not the problem, with that being a yankee truck it wont hurt to replace them.

how expensive is it to have that done?

Im guessing I need to take the tire off, the calipar, then the front hub, get the old ones pressed off, and the new ones on, then put it all back together?

sounds like another shop job....

Nope its easy. 4 bolts after the caliper and rotor are off from the back side of the spindle. If you go look at one from the parts store you will see how easy they are. You will be suprised.

no pressing on or off, the rotor always sticks on my f-150, sometimes I need a puller for that, but other than having a socket for the spindle nut, the job is really easy. Go for it

so the bearing just sits in the race? I though the tolerances were closer?

anyone have some part numbers for me, and maybe a place to order them on line?
