Output shaft sensor is broke and I do the think the tc locks a lot. Sometimes my truck will fall flat on its face because it doesn't shift right. Tc locking and causing this could be an explanation in my eyes too. If I were to get an edge programmer, could I play with the torque lock settings and fix it?

yeah, when my MAF died I couldn't start it, just kept cranking. tried for a good 30 mins to get it to start. I was in a parking lot away from home with just a few tools. I was at a loss of what it was. It was throwing the MAF code and I just disconnected the sensor and it started up. it idled sporadically but it got me to the part store and I put a new MAF sensor in and problem fixed. I wasn't aware a bad one would keep it from starting. I tried cleaning it first to no avail.
