Default Auto lamp not work

So, my autolamp headlights dont work on 2003 supercrew .

I disconnected the autolamp module, and the lights turn on /off fine with switch by hand. Been doing that for a couple yrs now.

I replaced the auto lamp module with a new one. No change, still doesnt work.

There are some strange symptoms. They may not come on automatically. Turning switch to "on" may get them to come on. If switch back to auto they stay on too. But with ignition on, you cannot turn them off at all. The only way to turn them off is to turn off vehicle and wait 30 seconds or so. If turn vehicle back on soon, they come back on again regardless of switch position. If wait several hours, they may not come on again automatically unless turn headlight switch to "on".

Any thoughts?

Finally got electrical diagrams off autozones website and fixed it. It was the relay $7.

I did not expect the normal headlamp current to go thru switch (30 amp). The relay is only for autolamps. Pretty obvious from diagrams there were limited things that could cause lights to stay on with switch in off position. Relay had to stick or be energized. I dont think Ive ever had another vehicle with that much current going thru a dash switch, usually headlights go thru a relay at all times. If I had known it, I would have just replaced relay years ago, but lights worked with autolamp disconnected, so I assumed relay was OK.
