Default Asking for alittle help

So my truck has been out of service for about 1 1/2 weeks due to a fuel pump issue

So after checking the fuel pump for 12 v, which it had at the plug going to the pump I decided to change the fuel pump. It now starts up and runs, BUT

When under a load, accelerating, it sputters, at idle it seems to run fine I do not feel and abnormal vibrations at idle

But when I give it gas, it sputters and almost feels like a missing a cylinder, but I know its not (been threw 2 misfiring cylinders due to bad coils) but that's what it feels like to me

I did not change the fuel filter; the one I got from the auto parts store is way mismatched and will not fit in the current location.

I guess my question is could the fuel filter cause that... or should I look some were else? I plan on going to ford to get a factory one Sun, and replacing it

Thanks Techna

I personally wouldn't think a fuel filter would cause a miss, engine cutting out from fuel starvation, yes, but not a miss. Definately change the filter, its good preventative maintenance and who knows, perhaps it is your problem. Good luck.

How is the fuel pressure regulator working? Have you put a gauge on the fuel system to see what kind of pressure readings you are getting?

so i changed the fuel filter, and took it for a little drive, everything seemed to be going great for the first 5 mins, BUT

When the temp of the truck reached operating temp it started the hesatation again, and sputtering, almost like a missing cylinder again

The pressure is good but the rotten egg smell is your catalytic converter having a melt down and that is bad. Could explain the rough running from the rear O2 sensor trying to adjust and can't.

so, after all said and done it ended up being

1) #6 Coil bad, ended up i had not driven it enough for the ECU to throw the code

still have the smell, coming from the tailpipe, everyone i have talked to about it from muffler guys to the ford dealer all say a little different, but all seem to be starting off at the same point..

bad gas seems to be the #1 thing.
then #2 is O2 sensors, causing the truck to run lean
the last one is the cat..

gonna run a tank of good gas threw it and see what happens
