Last question. Full synthetic, dino or a blend?
If you are going to change oil yourself...go buy what your favorite oil is.

Not sure if dino is worth it, but I'm sure the full vs. partial has been beaten to death, brought back to like and killed again 3 more times.

Use what you are comfortable with. There is no wrong answer between full and partial.

Go with the synthetic if you can. They flow better than conventional oil do/did. Sure the old engine are fine on those, but the engines from the late 90's on are all designed for the smallest of passages to supply oil, so anything that can restrict the flow wouldn't be good for an older engine.

Think of it as the spark plugs in the GEN 10's. Ford started with 11# torque, moved it up and up and up until 28# is now the chosen torque. Some of the GEN 10 had 5w30 listed on the cap oil also, but now all should use 5w20 in them per the TSB. My new engine from Ford specified 5w20 synthetic formula for warranty and came with that in the motor from the factory. Ford supplied the oil, filter, spark plugs and PCV on the new engine It also was stated specifically on the PCV valve replacement.

Any modern API SN/SN+ 5w-20 will be a blend, even if not listed on the bottle.

And again, the type/brand/weight (within reason, no 15w-50 oils and such) of oil is of no real consequence if the oil is changed on a regular basis.

I went with 5w20 synthetic and a Motorcraft filter. I did my oil change this morning.
I realize these oil threads are tiring but there really isn't any definitive answer on this forum.
I sure appreciate all the very informative replies.

Shoot, I was searching for this thread this morning (unable to find it) to follow up and suggest you go with 5w-30 Ford Blend because of the Arizona heat.
Oh well, get it next time.

I made the switch to 5W-30 with no issues. If you’re in the heat, I would definitely use 30 weight oil. Why would Ford tell a different part of the world with no emission regulations to use 30 weight and the one with EPA hippies to use 20 weight? All this oil passage non sense is BS.
