Whenever I use 4x4 on my 03 and put it back in 2wd I hear a grumble noise as I drive and I got to stop and put it back in 4lo And back in 2hi then the noise stops. Do the actuators need greased or something it's annoying to stop in the road after getting out of snow and still having them engaged so where I got to get in a spot that I won't get stuck again...

Kinda sounds like a vaccum leak. When my '05 did that, I had to replace an actuator.

there's no hissing or anything when it's in 4lo or 4hi that I can hear.

Pin point the noise as best you can. Perhaps put it on jack stands to zero in on it. Could be the fork, could be the shift motor. Yea, narrow it down if you can.

put up on 4 STURDY jack stands and shift into 4wd with key on engine off. That will allow you to hear everything move

after all this time i found the 4X4 vacuum lines were not connected all the way on the passenger side wheel well liner and now they pop after engaging and disengaging and they go in and out in 1 try
