Default Aluminum intake

I just purchased a 1998 f 150 extended cab short bed with 89000 miles. It has an aluminum intake. Is this factory or did some one replace it

Depends on the engine, the 4six used metal intakes into 2000. The 5four was 99.

Change dates during production dont necessarilly coincide exactly with model yr. Wouldnt be unusual at all for a 99 to have an engine mfg in 98 either.
