The voltage regulator is typically built into the alternator. clock spring is behind the airbag on the steering wheel. not to hard to replace. disconnect the battery and remove the 2 bolts the hold the airbag in. 10mm i think. then pull the steering wheel off carfully. then replace the clockspring. make sure the wheels are straight. b4 you remove the steering wheel. pm if u have any q's.

Regulator is right on the back of the alternator and is simply removed by 4 torx screws, it contains the brushes/brushholder assembly as well, whole unit might cost you $30 but good luck finding it. No one sells alt parts anymore, they want you to buy the whole reman part.

The regulator on the alternator is not hard to replace. But if the alternator has enough miles on it, you might just want to replace the whole thing. It's easier, and it's good insurance.

If you pull the regulator off the back of the alternator, look inside where the reg was, and see if the 2 armature contacts are worn down or grooved. If they are, don't replace the regulator, replace the alternator. If you don't you will find that the brushes you install (connected to regulator) will wear unevenly and even wear out in short time.

If you can save the alternator then, the Standard Motor Part # for the voltage regulator is VR-455. Borg Warner #R-401. The brush holder assembly is X-380 (BW). Finding the brush holder is always the hardest part as most parts stores don't list it in their quick reference. Any parts store can cross the X-380 # and get you one of their brand though. Good luck
