Default Alternator Question

my buddy on ranger forums found out that if that switch the ranger alternator for an explorer alternator it is a direct bolt up and puts out more power. i was wondering if the same could be done for the F-150 and the expedition.

Personally, I think it depends on the amps that the alternator produces. not just because it is on one vehicle or another. I know my f150 has a 130amp~ alternator because it has a different package (that is what I have been told) vs. a 90amp~ alternator. I would get the amps on your current alternator checked and see what kind of output your are currently receiving and make a decision from there.

If that is your goal and you feel a little under pressure to do it cheaply, go to a junk yard and get one but there are no promises there. Perhaps others on the board my have a few suggestions, good luck.

Check with your local police dept to see who supplies their alternators. The guy here in Windsor sold me a 200 amp for $150.00. Special deal I know but you might also get lucky.
