Default almost starts

Hey,

I have a '98 F150 4X4 w/the 4.6l engine.

Parked it yesterday and was working fine.

Now when try to start it fires but won't go.

Noticed there is a reset fuel pump tag but says to refer to owners manual that didn't get w/truck

Q1 - Should you be able to hear the fuel pump?
Q2 - Where is the reset button for fuel pump?
Q3 - is there a fuse in the panel for it?

thnx and cheers

peter

When I first bought my truck I had a similiar problem. For no rhyme reason, it would turn over but wouldn't fire.

I ran a couple tanks of fuel injector cleaner through it and the problem went away. As simple as it sounds, its worth a shot (that is if you can even get it to start)...worked for me.

I have to run a fuel system cleaner through it every other oil change and change the fuel filter maybe once a year or the problem starts up again.

Hope that helps, let me know if you come up with a better fix, would love to hear it!

I dont know if you have tried this but make sure the truck is all the way in park. My truck was doing the same thing earlier..it would turn over but it wouldnt fire. I moved it into neutral and then back to park and it fired right up.

You could also try disconnecting your battery let it reset, reattach and try again.

Hey,

Thanks for the advice all.

Was indeed the fuel pump reset button.

Lucky I saw that little tag on the rad support. I am 60 miles from the nearest mechanic and bye myself so would have been a tricky tow lol

cheers
