The ABS light is on in my 2003 4WD 5.4 XLT, so I ran FORSCAN and got the following error report.

- Circuit Failure between AirBag Warning Lamp & Power Distribution
-Circuit Failure between Air Bag Warning Lamp & AirBag Module


Warning Indicator always ON ---------------------------
- Short to GND between AirBag Warning Lamp & AirBag Module

-Suspect Fuse AirBag Warning Lamp AirBag Module

Check the instrument cluster connections for shorts etc.

Can anyone suggest how to test for the potential short at the instrument panel, and if that's not the source of the problem, I assume the last code indicates a failure within the ABS module itself, correct?

Does the "airbag off" light still work? I'm stuck in traffic here - shooting from the hip. But I know if that light is burned out, you'll get a code.

 

Yep, it's functioning properly. I saw that Ford Tech Makuluko has an "ABS light diagnosis" video. I'll need to watch that and see if it's of any help.
