Default ABS/Brake light on. ???

Hello everyone. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I have a 1998 F-150 with a 4.6 and automatic. The amber ABS and the red brake light are on. I replaced the ABS sensor on the rear end. Both lights are still on. When the brakes are cold like in the mornings the rear brakes are real grabbie (they want to lock up). Once they warm up they seem to work fine. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find out what the problem is and how to correct it.

Do you have RWABS or 4 wheel ABS? My 98 had Rear only. After searching for a long time I found that there was no way to pull codes with a scanner on RWABS system. There is a way by grounding a wire located in the passenger kick panel (Orange/BLK I think. Do a google search for procedure. Returns Code 4 ABS Valve). Mine turned out to be the ABS proportioning valve on the firewall under the Master cylinder. $35 from a Salvage yard and all is fixed.
Your mileage may vary. I spent 6 mo. off and on tracking this down so hopefully you can benefit and get er done quicker.

Brakes grabbing on mine was rear brake shoes. Common problem it seems with this model. Good Luck!

First things first.... is your brake fluid reservoir full?

Next thing is, does it have front ABS (as Fixit asked)?

My rears were locking up, and it was due to the fluid needing changed.
