99 F-150 won't start
Good afternoon,
I have a '99 F-150 4x4 with the 5.4L engine with 144,000 miles that I have been driving for several months. The truck is my Mom's but she doesn't drive it much. It has run flawlessly all summer/fall, until yesterday. I ran several errands yesterday morning, and each time I started the truck it was harder to start and cranked slower than the previous time until finally it would not start. It would try to crank, then just stop. I had to go to work, so on my way home I stopped and got a new battery. Same thing. New battery was fully charged. On subsequent attempts to start, it just clicked. So now I'm thinking it's the starter. Any thoughts?
I bought a new starter and am unable to get to the top of the 3 bolts. Does anyone have a trick to get to that top bolt?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
