Hi everyone. I just bought a 99 4.2L. Ive had it for about a month. I decided to take my first road trip and got about an hour and a half from home and my engine blew. Turns out I threw a rod. So now I am looking for another engine to put in it. I am not looking to make any serious modifications, I just want something straight forward. I am wondering if I can use an engine from a diffrent year and if so what years? Also, I dont want to sacrifice quality for economy, whats the best way to get a new engine? Ive been thinking of finding a wreck with low miles and pulling the engine from that. let me know what you guys think. As much as it sucks that my engine went out I am excited about working on this with my dad.
