98 f150 lariat shift lost short

98 f150 lariat shift lost short
One of the wires on my brake light switch broke which also disengaged the shift lock accuator. I cut the other wire and manually shorted them to drive. Since that disabled my brake lights I tried to extended the wires so I could manually short for brake lights till I c o uls afford to repair correctly. Problem is I shorted wires to body and now neither works. Hand book says fuse number 5 is shift lock and 16 is stoplights, neither is blown. What else should I look for please u can drive truck everything works tail lights blinkers just no brake lights and shift lock. Thinking maybe another fuse

Well if your shorted through the body that means you sent power to other places. Have you check your fuses? Box under steering wheel and box in engine bay? Also I think the 98s has the mega fuses from the battery too. Might need to check that.
