Default 98 5 speed

I am new to the forum but I need some opinions, I have a 98 f150 4.2 6 cylinder with the M5R2 5 speed manual trans. I just replaced the clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throw out bearing and got the flywheel resurfaced. Everything works great but occasionally it makes a noise like something is banging around in the bell housing. It doesn’t do it all the time, just randomly on and off. It doesn’t change when in gear or when the clutch is in or out. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this?

So you're saying that once the noise starts it just continues? Sitting at idle, in neutral, bang bang bang bang bang? Or does it just make a few bangs then stop?

Have you been underneath to confirm that it's from the bellhousing? Loose exhaust or heat shield is a possibility.

Thank you, yes once it starts it just continues, never for the same amount of time sometimes it’s for 1 minute others 15. I have been underneath while it’s running, all the exhaust and heat Shields are all properly fastened, when i’m down there it sounds like it’s from that area, I don’t have a stethoscope to be 100% though.
