Default 97 F150 window question

I have a F150 and I have a question about the windows. The motors keep burning up within 4-6 months of replacing them and I have grown tired of replacing $60 motors. The windows work fine, but when they get to the top or bottom the motor does not stop. What tells the motor to stop after it reaches the top or bottom?
Thanks

I would think its a faulty switch possibly sticking and telling the motor to keep going I guess I would take a voltmeter or even a test light and check out which wire gets hot off the switch when you activate it if its still hot after you are done pressing it I think that may be your problem
