Default 97 a/c heat problems

My A/C works for about 5 minutes then i hear what I assume to be the blend door open and heat comes out. I found a used dash control panel cheap and switched it out thinking that it may be a tempurature control **** issue. Well that worked for about 45 minutes then the same thing happened, the blend door opened and it started blowing out heat!!! Whats the chances that i got another bad switch. Im think about buying a new temp control switch?? I think the blend door is working because I hear it open??? What do you guys think??

80 isn't many on this forum. On others it might be, but not here.

Based on your description, if I had to guess, I'd say your blend door actuator is bad. It could be the door itself, but my money is on stripped out teeth in the actuator. You can remove it, and open it up to check.

This is what it looks like. If it's been replaced before, it could be black instead.

You can see the broken teeth sitting on the resistors.

The first thing I would check is the vacuum hose running to the blend door. If it is damaged it would be cheap to fix.
