Hi, I have a 1997 f150 with electric shift 4x4.
Two main problems since i purchased the truck.
First one is very puzzlying. Once and a while, usually on damp or windy nights the alarm will just randomly go off, even though I have never set the alarm and the doors are not locked. It just seems to go off. Turns off like it should by cycliing the door lock.
Can't seem to figure this one out?

Second problem seems to be more common. The electric shift on the fly does not work at all. When the dash switch is turned to either 4H or 4L nothing at all happens. No noises, no clicks nothing at all.
All fuses are good, and I just replaced the shift motor. Still nothing happens?
New quirk though, the 4H dash light just randomly came on a few days ago, even though the switch is still in the 2H position and has not changed. It does not seem to attemp to shift the transfer case or the front axle solenoid, just lights up the dash light ???????

If I disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect it the 4H light will go out, but after a while driving ( maybe 30 minutes) it just decides to come back on????
Its left me clueless.
I have read a lot about water or moisture leaking into the Gem and causing some random electrical problems, and was wondering if it can be the cause of all this???
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
