Default 5" RC lift and 35's with no stabilizer?

Hi guys, been lurking on here awhile and while under my truck the other day changing the oil I noticed there is no steering stabilizer whatsoever! Isn't this almost a requirement when a truck is lifted and running 35" tires? I bought my truck with the 5" RC lift installed and never thought about it, would the stabilizer cure the small shimmy my wife always complains about even though I've rebalanced the tires and rotated them several times?

We drive a lot of back roads around here so I can see the installation of a stabilizer really benefitting me!

Mine doesn't need it with a BDS 6". I've hit 80 on the highway with no issues. The shimmy could also be due to flex in the side wall, depending on what tires you have. The Trail Grapplers seem to be pretty resistant to that.

Yea, you're running an 18" wheel which gives you quite a bit less sidewall than what I have with my 16" wheels... BTW I'm using Toyo Open Country A/T's on my truck.

I just ordered the Stabilizer kit from RC for my truck, hope it was a $60 waste....

I don't think it would be a waste.

You should get one, i have a single steering stablizer at stock height on 22" rims and it made a nice difference, the steering wheel barely moves at all now when i go over pot holes or bumpy roads.
Since you have 35" tires and a lift too i would even go duel stabilizer, if a single at stock height can make a pretty good difference im sure a duel setup will make BIG difference with a lift and 35's

4wd trucks dont need a stabilizer. Toyo AT especially running them on 16" wheel will give a lot of side wall flex. The stabilizer might help but it will be very miniscule.

So why is it that Ford decided to put a stabilizer on all F250's and F350's from the factory? I've also seen it factory installed on many other 4wd trucks over the years so I figure it must help some.

IFS and Solid axles are to completely different suspension systems. The SLA front suspension by design has more caster to help stabilize the wheels in the steering system. Where as in a solid axle when one wheel is shocked by a bump it upset the other wheel.
