Go to napa or any auto parts store and tell them you want a motorcraft oil filter don't take anything else im sure that's your problem I'll be dammed if that ain't it

 

ill try that tomm, this makes 2 oil changes in 2 days, had the truck 3 days, lol, maybe since just done the 30$ m1 oil ill just change filter only

 

You could try that but be quick when you change the filter with out the oil cuz the oil should come pouring out haha keep me updated on how it goes just check your oil level before you start it up obviously

 

Also you will always hear a small noise that sounds like a minor exhaust leak every 5.4 I know of does that

 

yea its just this 1 sounds like mains not a tapping noise up high but a main bearing sound down in bottom

 

Try the easy stuff first like motorcraft filter then if that doesnt fix it move to something else

 

changed filter, filled up with high octane gas as well, still low end knock

 

I have the same deal with my truck. It's either an exhaust leak, lash adjuster, tensioner, noisy fuel injector, I don't really know. It doesn't do it when rpms are up and it still does it when warm. My mechanic says I'm hearing things. It has good oil pressure so I don't care.

 

i wouldnt care either, but as said its for sale and everyone walks away from it, tried tell them done this for a while clearly not anything serious, ive ran the hell out of it, no worse, just sounds bad at idle

 

I havent read the whole thread, but my 5.4 has knocked since iv owned it (couple years) and the previous owner said its been knocking for him for a while too. Also when i first bought the truck I put 5w 20 in it and it made the knock louder, since then iv always ran 10w40.
