Default 4x4 troubles possibly?

Had the vehicle jacked up on 4 stands trying to fix the brakes and so by random thought I'd put it in4x4 to spin all wheels (note all tires are off) and I notice only the drivers side is turning not the passenger side, sometimes u could see it trying to turn or it would very slowly creep around but is my transfer case pooched or my 4x4 motor not fully engaging?? I even gave it a good rev or 2 to see if it would go but still nothing...... I'm stumped???

caron, don't be worried, if one front and one rear were spinning, your 4x4 is working correctly, as are the differentials at either end. Allowing for a one tire spin at either end of the truck....it's normal when you try to spin wheels in the air with the engine. Sometimes at my shop it takes quite a bit of speed to get all four spinning when trying to find noises.

Honestly, nothings broken. Do not be alarmed !

Front diffs rarely have limited slip in them, rears sometimes do but you have nothing to be concerned about, your truck it working correctly, now put the tires back on the ground and go play in some dirt with it

A lot of people think 4WD (or 4x4) means all four wheels turn. Nope.

Most stock, production trucks with a transfer case and a front differential, at best, should be called a 2x4, or maybe a 3x4.

But that doesn't sound as cool, does it?
