4x4 not working

Default 4x4 not working

1998 ford f-150 lariat 4x4 loaded . went to my sisters thanksgiving day had to park in her yard all the relatives pluggin up the drive . it snowed over night went to leave figured i better lock her in so i wouldn't tear her yard up . locked in fine switch on the fly on dash got the light that lights up. everything seems normal. backed out without a wheel spin got onto the black top put in drive went about 5 mph switched to 2 high and bang what the hell was that i asked my son. lights out on dash 4x4 indicator drove 15 miles stop for smokes . try 4x4 again lights are back i can hear the solinoids working or the relays kicking in will not engadge into 4x4 anyone with any thoughts on this . this happened one other time when i first bought the truck put it in 4 wheel not moving and in park bang. but everything worked fine for over a year up till now. thought after this happend got to be moving to put it into 4x4. i live in pennsylvania need my 4x4 workin asap.need your help on this one thanks dave

did you switch to two wheel drive while pressing on the gas

Default 4x4 not working

well with the help of a friend managed to figure out my issue with the 4 wheel drive. the solenoid that sits on the front axle was hangging up from grease the got as hard as tar cleaned it up shot it with some p.b blaster .i thought i broke the transfer case chain . well snow bound agian . was out playin in it today we didn,t get much but enough to have a little fun . can,t wait for a foot or two keep on truckin dave
