4x4 not. Working
Have read other forums. But i can't find one exactly like mine. I have a 2003 ford f150. 5.4l lariat super crew. When I turn the switch on the dash, nothing happens. No clicking and no lights on either dash nor switch. There is power to the switch, and the switch itself is good. There are no bad fuses nor relays. There is no physical evidence that anything has been disconnected or ruined upon visual inspection. And no fault codes are thrown on a simple code scan. Any ideas on the problem? My dad and I are fairly good with engines, cars, mechanics etc. so there's no need to dumb down the answers or fixes. Thanks!

When someone inside switches to 4x4 whack the shift motor with a large wrench or small hammer over and over an if it's bad it'll usually shift. Then make sure you shift it back to 4x2 right away and it'll either work or you'll have to tap it some more to get it to work. That's an easy way to test the motor, basically the same test as a starter or window motor.
i had the same problem last week . havent used the 4x4 since last snowfall ( about 8 months ago) didnt havce a buddy to help me so i just took the truck down a bumpy road and kept trying to engage 4hi and finally it went in. then i went to a muddy area tried 4lo /back to 2wd/ to 4hi / 4llo etc. used it for a good half hour and it seems to be fine now. i think the motor seizes if you dont use it at least once a month to keep everything from sticking.
Hi there have the same problem with my truck what did u findout? Need the help driveing me nuts thanks for any info
