4x4 hub question
The 04 up body style have actuators to engauge 4x4 at the wheels. Our body style axles always turn. Therefore bad mileage. Is there something aftetmarket to I guess make manual locking hubs so axles don't turn unless you lock them in?
That's a great question! I'm gonna post on here just so I can "subscribe to this thread" to find out if you get any info about this. That would be a heck of a gas saver if there are some out there. Good luck with this one!
thats would a be a good idea too have manuel locking hubs again. but if u stop and think bout it that front end aint realy turnin a whole lot when its not ingaged. u have two cv half shafts that go up too the front pumpkin and thats bout it realy every thing else sits idle (most of the front pumpkin, the front drive shaft, half of the transfer case the chain is bout the only thing movin on the drivers side of the transfer case) untile u engage ur 4x4. so i maybe wrong but u would probly only save 1 or 2 mpgs and is that realy worth hafting too get out and lock in ur front hubs when ur stuck in mud or its cold with a wind and -20 degrees and now ur hubs are iced over and requre plyers too turn LOL. my first truck was a 88 f150 4x4 i hated them front hubs especlialy when u was stuck in mud and they was buried.
thats just my two sense but it if u find something and try it out let me know what kind of resaults u get.
