The 4x4 issue, might be they disconnected the vacuum line to the solonoid that locks the hubs or something like that. Does the 4x4 light come on when you try to lock it in?

you should deff. look into a 4wd conversion or something along those lines.

i know your truck goes through a lot of stuff most 2wd's probably cant, but you'd be amazed what that transfer case can do when your in a bad spot, lol.

you've heard that before though. not even sure why im posting.

Yeah if he can get them to crawl under it and fix it for free then thats the way to go, they probably are the reason its not working anymore. But I bet thats it probably just that darn vacuum line.

I hope its something simple because he just spent all his money lol.

I would love a 4wd but a conversion its out of my price range. I do the best I can with what I have this way when I get a new truck ill be amazed at how much better a 4wd is. I plan on keeping this one for a while though since its paid off.

I understand being on a budget. and if i could trade my 4wd for a truck that was payed off, i think i'd take it also.

nice looking truck though.

If you had a 96 or older, it would only cost around $400 in parts

Being there is no computer to work with, and given you have a good PnP near you, the 4x4 and 4x2 transmissions are the same, with the exception of the main shaft and rear tail housing. Both $40=$80 (pain to change though)
Transfer case(Mounts right up after transmission mods)=$100 (I believe)=$180
Front complete ttb(being that Ford used the same body and mounts for 2wd and 4wd, and yes i have done my research, the ttb is 100% bolt up in the original location)=$140 total=$320
driveshafts= $80(2x$40)
Grand total=$400
This is of course if you do all the labor yourself. Would cost you over 4k in a shop..
Going to do it myself as soon as the $ shows up..
