Default 4r70w i.d.'s

I need to replace my tranny in my 97 4.6 and from my searches i found there is 2 different id numbers for the 4r70w. Does it matter which one i use?

Maybe one is for 2wd and the other is for 4wd.

That's what I was thinking or v6 and the v8s or 5.4 and 4.6

The 2 different I.d's are for the 4.2 and for the 4.6. If you have a 4.6 you need to find one from a v8 as the 4.2 has a completely different bolt pattern.

actually come to find out its whether its a california made truck or not
