Default I have 2 questions about my 97' 4.6

First questions is about like headers and stuff like that could any of that stuff be interchangeable from a mustang gt to my truck, I know my truck I think is a 2v and the mustangs are 3v but was wondering about headers and what other part could be used if any?

Next question is about the ac the guy I got the truck from said he thought it had a small leak and gave me a can with gauges when I got it. So I got home and put it in and nothing really happened even though the gauge was showing good, but when I do turn on the ac you can hear the clutch kick in and out like every few seconds any ideas I am not an ac guy so I am clueless.

The headers are a no go. Mustang parts wont work here for the most part.

How fast is the clutch engaging and disengaging?

Does it still do it when set to max ac with fan speed on high?

Clutch engaging every few seconds, sound like your pressure isn't up to where it needs to be. Did the guy give you freon with the leak check in it? If not, you can buy the R134a update kit with this in it. It will help find a leak, and in a lot of cases, stop it. Just a thought for you to consider.

4.6 truck and your Mustang parts are rarely interchangable as far as exhaust etc. You have a 3v, so it is mostlikely a 2005 up Mustang. Parts from this motor are not, in general, compatable as direct swaps with older 2v engines. The heads are totally different, so nothing there will fit and work properly. The list goes on. Sorry.

Thanks for the info I really hadn't done much research yet between the 4.6 out of the f-150 to the mustang I was just wonder because I can find a lot of those parts pretty easy. Now I can't remember exactly what kind of Freon he gave me all I remember was it had stop leak or something I will check I think it is still out in the garage. But the clutch kicks in and out no matter what fan speed or if it is just ac or max ac. I was just wondering before I took it somewhere or if it was something that I can do myself.

Why not?

2v for 2v I see no problem, also I have seen 2v headers go on 4v heads...

Unsure of bolt pattern on 3v heads...

Just Food for thought.

I was talking specifically about the 2v to 3v. I dont mind being wrong but I didnt want to tell him to go for it and spend his money to buy the wrong part.

No you're right, I don't think he really knew how to word his question. (Year GT)

But I'm pretty sure 3v has a different bolt pattern on the header/manifold than a 2v or 4v up until the 4v gt500 heads and then it changes on the 4v heads.

I don't even know why we are talking 3V and 4V engines here. The 3V 4.6 didnt go into the Mustang until 2005 and didn't go into an F-150 until 2009, so what's that 12 years after the 97 in question. Mustangs all had 2V from 96-04 with exception to the Mach 1 and Cobra which have the 4V.

2V mustang headers will not work on 3V or 4V mustangs either.

The mounting flange is not the main concern here either. While a 2V mustang header may mount to a 2V truck head the piping is bent differently to fit into the space in the engine compartment and align with the midpipe.
