Default 4BT Swap

I've been doing reach on swapping out the 5.4 in my truck for a 4BT. I just happen to stumble across what I believe is a awesome deal, to good of a deal for what I'm planning on doing. I found a 2001 Lariat 4x4 5.4 with about 290,000 that the owner said that a few cylinders don't have compression. Which is fine with me because I'm just going to pull it out anyway. So the plan is to find a P-pump 4BT and run a small block ZF S5-42. The few things that I'm worried about right now is positioning the engine, motor mounts, and the all dredge wiring. I would like to pull the wiring harness out and get rid of all the wires that will not be used. I will be picking your guys brain as this process goes along. What do you guys think?

I would have loved a 4bt swap in my other truck but I can buy a running truck for what just the 4bt sells for around here! I'd keep the factory tranny and buy the bellhousing adaptor to match

Your right about that the 4BT's must be made of gold these days. Like you said, you can find a nice running truck for what your going to pay for a 4BT. I think it will be fun to have something that not to many people have.

After I get the super crew finished I may try to tackle it myself on the spare truck.

Go check out 4btswaps,com to make everything work like it should your looking about $20,000 if you do the work yourself. The 4bt will fit but not by much, motor mounts can be bought, everything on the front of the motor will have to be custom, as far as trans since you say you want to use a ZF you'd have to go custom there to, drive line will have to be custom, wiring is custom, it's not easy swap at all. You'll need a good understanding of these trucks and access to just about every resource in the custom truck world. Fab, wiring, drive line, tuning, etc. From the swaps I've seen completely correctly they're either owners of diesel shops that specialize in these types of swaps? Or they're retired with 30 years of experience swapping.
