Question 4 wheel drive problems

i have got a 2000 f150 ford truck you can here the transfer case going in gear but the front wheels wont lock in can someone please help

Possible vacuum leak going to the front axle, I'd check there first.

If you figure it out, let me know. Same issue with 2003 F-150. Electronic switch sounds like it engages, 4x4 light illuminates on the instrument panel, but no four wheel drive....

My 04 FX4 is doing same thing. It's not vacuum because if it was then hubs would stay locked in. I can flip my switch and transfer case engages and front axels turn but hubs won't lock in. It will make a grinding noise in hub area when I move. I'm trying to figure out if it's my hubs or actuator. I'm not real sure exactly where the actuators are. Are they in the hub area?
