I know the feeling...just went from an o1 cummins that put down 536hp 1198tq to this 98 4.6...leaves me a lil unsatisfied in the get up and go area.

My '04 Heritage with the 4.6 hauls pretty good..I sure can top over 65mph in a head wind with no problem at all...Before I changed the rev limiter it would haul up to 100mph pretty quickly and then ping off the limiter...

Having CAI, true dual and a programmer helps, I also do regular maintenance which also helps...

I often drive a 2010 F250 Power stroke and my F150 would stomp it for acceloration.

My brother has a stock 06 F250 6.0 powerstroke that will leave me in the dust from a dead stop. I have a gutless 4.6 with tru duals, gotts mod and Edge on the tow tune. Several weeks ago he was on my *** going up a fairly long pull so I stomped it and couldn't get more than about 75. He passed me pulling a trailer with a skid loader on. Deisels have come a long way since I first drove a chevy 350 deisel conversion in the mid 80's

having a 6 speed, i was slow off the get got, but once my turbo spooled about half way through 3rd, i was gone tires squeeling. That cummins could outpull anybody on the hills even towing a trailer. I dynoed it a 890 ft/lbs torque at 6000 ft elevation. i miss the power and getting 22 mpg, but i jsut couldnt afford the price of fuel for it. im hoping after a cat back exhaust, CAI or Gott's, and new plugs and wires it will be better on the 4.6

my 97 4.6 isnt the most powerfull thing out there but i found the one thing that does the most harm to power is the darn air filter pluging up on it constantly. drives me nutz ever other month atleast i have too clean it otherwise im dead in the water the darn thing is pluged up. the only reason i can figure it plugs up so much is the fact there are alot of gravel roads i drive also alot of off road drivin i do so i would check that first thing every time no code and loss of power.

however with my 4.6 i hauld my stepdads 3/4 ton chevy suburban back from weatherford, OK 400+ miles back to my house. (lol he broke while pullin a camero back so his friend brought his new 3/4ton chevy truck to pull the car back while my f150 hauld the suburban back) top speed was 65-70 on I-44 my truck is a f150 4x4 xlt 4.6 Romeo 230,000 miles. on the way down i pullin this equipment trailer 8ftx20ft down at 100+ with traffic i was hardly pushing the truck on the way down but on the way back i was pushin the limits a bit. I also filled up 6 times there and back lol still cheaper than a towtruck

pics of the trailer and suburban hooked up to my truck

have you serviced your transmission? if you have old crappy fluid inside it could cause it to slip a little making you lose power to the wheels

i cleaned out my air filter and knocked all the big stuff out. came back from cheyenne today(40-60mph winds) and i ran 3000rpms all the way back and it had to down shift to 2nd on a couple hills but i was able to keep it at 70-75. so im guessing a high flow dry filter will help. I have not had the tranny serviced, its on the agenda for the summer.

so far it sounds like either a Gott's wit h hi flow dry filter or a Open element CAI
delete the back 2 cats and run a dual system with a x pipe, do a tune up(plugs, wires, coil packs, fuel filter) clean the MAF and invest in a Edge CS?

any arguments regarding a GOTT's or a CAI?

please keep related to topic please

Suck in a truck but haul in a fox body stang. You can make them run for some $. I have a gutless pig with 108,000 and it runs great till I need power then I wish I would have got a 5.4. I'm sure everone will tell you how good there's run and something must be wrong with yours but you know the truth.
Oh yeah? Just over 200? I dynod at 282 with my 2006 bone stock(edit: forgot about the ram air). I guess all us cant be "big rig" drivers like you. You could invest some time in learning to drive a truck before you dog out people and say everyones a liar if thier truck is better than yours. Hell yeah a 5.4 has more power but unless your moving the statue of liberty to wyoming you can get plentu of power out of a 4.6. Thanks for the call out though bro-tato...
