I'm looking forwards to it too. I work valet and it's usually a great steady job. But it's tip based. Over the holidays the money was incredible. Now? Eh not so much. So it might take some time to get back on track but on the bright side, I no longer have to go look for a donor truck. I want the swap to be as simple as possible and I was planning to buy another 10th gen, similarly equipped, and use that for anything I needed parts wise since the engine came out of a Lincoln. But now I can pull the engine and just directly swap anything I need.

Thought I'd give a little update on this thread. I had a couple little predicaments come up.

The biggest and most urgent issue was getting the car I'm currently driving paid for by the 3rd of February. Finally got that taken care of so now I can put money towards the engine.

Second issue that I resolved today was finding where I was going to work on performing the swap. I live in a neighborhood with a home owners association and so I can't do any prolonged work on the truck without issues with the HOA. And the darn truck is too big to fit in the garage so that wasn't an option.

So now this project is in full swing. And tax season couldn't have come at a better time

Going to purchase a mechanical gauge and test it that way. Kinda bummed. It's been well maintained and only has 105k miles on it.
Huh, that's unusual. You know, when they go out like that (pop , then oil pressure) it is usually oil related. Either the pump or pick up screen was plugged. I mean, it's exactly what happens!

I've seen one go out as low as 60,000 miles because the pick-up screen plugged. But the person never changed the oil and just kept it topped off.

You can run these engines hard and they'll still go the distance. At some point, something must have happened to yours or it was just a fluke oil pump.

Did you pull the filter, was it dry ?

Haven't had a chance to do any troubleshooting to find the culprit yet. Im kind of curious to find out the problem too. I'll give the filter a look and do more looking when I tear the engine in the truck down. I would have to agree with you that it's oil related.

Also kind of curious, I plan to pull the engine/trans in one piece and have the trans built. What's the max hp/tq that a built 4r70w will handle? I've seen them online and they say 900hp 750tq but is that the max? I don't want to be anywhere near the max ratings when it's all said and done so I have a bit of a cushion. Not that I'm going to go much above 750hp/tq, just kind of curious as to what I could have my trans built to handle.

Yea , if the oil stopped flowing the filter will be dry. They can be dry as a bone lol. Anyway, that's a quick way to tell.

I wouldn't trust a 4r70w with over 5-600ish hp even with it built. 500hp and using that 500hp to is full potential will be hard on 4r70 a 4r100 is what I'd put in a boosted truck they can handle so much more than a 70w

yeah, but the swap is a huge PITA and not worth it IMO. Several people including @4x4Dave have Lentech 4R70w behind their Lighting blower swapped 5.4's so you should be fine with a built 4r70

4x4dave is pushing close to 700 torque if i recall and the 4r70, doesnt like it. In a mustang its fine. A truck, not so much. 4r100 time for you..
